It'd probably look something like this:

Minnesotans don't like the Confederacy.

I'll make the map later.

Given that States is into the confederacy and other very southern such things, I would expect MN to go for BRTD. Having said that, States would have my vote.

Depends. Who holds the legislature and how powerful is the legislature? With a strong republican hold in the state house and senate, I would go with BRTD. All other scenarios I'll take States.

I think BRTD would have enough moderates voting Independence Party that States could squeeze out a victory.

I doubt States would do well in Minnesota, but yeah, expect Independence to win quite a few counties.

This map is, of course, of a 37 I - 34 R - 28 D result when we need something more like 37 I - 34 D - 28 R, but it'll do for now.

Jesse's support was rather metro-based, so I took Lewis' numbers and extrapolated from the 2006 results where support for the IP was more spread out. This is what I got:

Third party...

I really don't trust BRTD with any kind of government. He is very erratic, and it's nothing personally or politically motivated... Personally, I like States, but I could never in a million years vote for him.

I guess if I had to.......I would choose BRTD, and I imagine that most Minnesotans would too.

In 2006, Independence won just 6% of the vote. Hard to draw conclusions based on that.

One might use 2002... except that in 2002, the Independence candidate simply won the area he once represented in Congress as a Democrat...

That's why I didn't. 2006 is the best we'll get.

Since my county was in the IP candidate's former congressional district, he caused the DFL candidate to come in third here Sad

Although we could assume that Penny is the Independence candidate in this race as well. Grin

No offense to States, but he would get slaughtered here.  BRTD would do much better than you all think, especially in the metro area and the north.

Isn't the north rural? I think I'd get a lot more unity in the rural areas, even though people don't necessarily agree with all my viewpoints.

Yes. But it's also pretty solidly DFL and dislikes radical rightists.

I just think with his civil, polite, and more country nature he would connect with rural voters more than you, BRTD.

Some of your peculiar positions and attitudes might make you seem out of touch with the average voter.

Here's what it'd look like against Penny. At least, what it would look like if I had the same appeal as Roger Moe:

Civil and polite? Not quite.

The north is also quite dovish.

Most of rural Minnesota would support BRTD.  His anti-suburb rhetoric would get people fired up enough alone to get people out voting in full force.  I predict that Duluth would go 70% to 25% for BRTD.  The north in general would go about 60% for BRTD to 35% for States.

The suburbs would probably be about 50-45 for States while the south would be more like 45-45 with a strong independent running and the west would be 50-45 for BRTD.  Hennipen and Ramsey would go 55-40 for BRTD.

Am I running from Minneapolis or Mankato?

From Mankato I'd do better in southern Minnesota.

No, the 'burbs would vote more on traditional Dem/Rep lines.  It would go something like this:  (please excuse the potty mouth)

Joe Nascar Dad:  "I like this guy.  He's kind of fascist, but just a little bit, and he wont' raise my taxes, and he doesn't like change or different people."

Sally Soccer Mom:  "Oh, honey... did you hear there's a Bruggel's Bagels going in over at Lakedale mall?  Oh, I just can't wait!  I LOVE bagels... oh Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.. I'm gonna get sooooooooooo fat!"

Joe Nascar Dad:  "Damn jews tried to screw me out of $5 today down at the mini-mart.. damn illegals... somebody oughta throw 'em in jail."

Sally Soccer Mom:  "Honey.. could you pick up the kids tomorrow afternoon at curling practice.. Joan and I are gonna head down to Jo-Ann Fabrics and compare patterns for our new quilts that we'll be doing with the Lutheran Ladies' Quilting club."

Joe Nascar Dad:  "Alright, but those damn Japs and Somalis and their driving.. it'll probly take me a good half hour to get there from work.  Hey Sally, come look at this, they're debating on the news."

Sally Soccer Mom:  "Oh yaaaaaaa!  I heard about them.. ya know.. I'm just not real sure who I'm gonna vote fer yet!  That BRTD doesn't have too gooda morals and he'll prolly just give the liberals up north what they want, but that other guy just seems too darned mean.  I wish Barbara Carlson was running!"
