I hear that DE At-Large represenative Mike Castile is thinking about seeking Joe Bidens Senate seat if he retires.

What are his chances if he does?

Very good, I think, considering his congressional seat is at large.

Considering his age and health, a number of Democrats may just choose to wait six years rather than fight the uphill battle, because I don't think Castle can realistically go a full twelve years.

Still, I doubt Biden retires.

He's old and in poor health. I doubt it.

castle should run for the seat even if biden doesnt retire.

biden has become basically a pompous windbag.

ive always liked biden.  his antics have gotten old, however.

Good, because we'd most likely take his House seat, and Biden will NEVER lose in Delaware.

A few years ago Castle said he enjoyed being in the House now more than he ever has - whether that is true or not, it would come back to haunt him in a Senate campaign, as would his age: 71.  Given the 2000 Senate campaign that would also be a liability.  I doubt whether Castle would be interested in running anyway but furthermore I also doubt Biden is going to retire, especially as his campaign for President imploded.

Joe Biden is not going to retire. He will drop out of the primary sooner or later - hopefully sooner - after he makes about two dozen huge verbal gaffes within two days.

Castle would not defeat him in a Senate race. It would be nice if he tried, though - we'd finally be able to take DE-AL back!

maybe so.  i dont know.

i do know biden has been around forever.  36 years.  he has spent his entire adult life in the us senate.  maybe the people of delaware want a change?  (granted, castle has been around forever too).

im also curious about how the folks in delaware feel about biden's presidential run, that is going to go nowhere.  a prospective opponent might be well served to make that an issue.  biden is more concerned with boosting his ego than serving the people of delaware.

bill roth was well liked too.  look what happened to him  he ran for reelection one too many times instead of calling it a career and bowing out with dignity.

Biden makes bigger gaffles then George Allen and if he were challenged by a strong canidate like Castle who could lose, Also Castle is not a canidate to be taken lightly he has been in Congress since the early 1990's and was a two term Governor Of DE before that.

Castle would not give up his seat in the House to run for Senate against Biden. He has said that numerous times. Castle is getting old and has recently had numerous health problems. Beau Biden is in a prime position to take the Democratic nomination for the Senate seat. He has been getting high praises as DE's Attorney General, a statewide elected position.

Biden won't retire. He'll drop out of the primaries once his support dips below 1%.

Castle won't run either. I doubt he'll give up his safe house seat for a race he'd probably lose.
