I think it is possible that she'll face a tough opposition in '08 because of her recent gaffes and that she'll continue to do what she does best:  Lie and spit out conspiracy theories.

In 2006, she did beat Patty Wetterling by 8 points (50 to 42), because people did not see the crazier side of Bachmann (Patty refused to have smear attacks on her personality, instead focusing on other things like Bachmann's support of the 23% sale tax).

The democrats need to nominate a moderate with good speaking credentials who will focus on things that are important to 6th district voters:  Better schools, roads, health care, and balanced budgets.

So, it is quite possible that she could lose her seat.  And boy would us liberals be happy if she was ousted.  That would leave only John Kline.  (I'm not worried about Jim Ramstad.  He's a Republican that I like).

Probably not. Her district is the most Republican in Minnesota.

I agree - the Democrats' best chance here was in 2006 and Wetterling lost 4% of her supporters compared to 2004.

It's possible that she'll have a Jean Schmidt effect on the district and do worse with incumbency, but we shall see. I think she'll win reelection in 2008.

A Conservative Democrat like Elywn Tinklenberg would make it a race.

The way things are going, Kline might lose too.
