On another board, I had:

2008: Guiliani/Thompson (R) defeats Clinton/Obama (D)
2012: Edwards/Herseth (D) defeats Guiliani/Thompson (R)
2016: Gray (L) wins in Congress against Edwards (D) and Hoeven (R). However, in the Senate Herseth (D) retained vice-presidency against Goldman (L) and Crist (R).

Rawlings, my main problem with that scenario is Jeb Bush on the ticket. I think putting a Bush on the ticket, even if he's not his brother, would basically lead to Republican defeat. Also, for this reason Condi Rice will also not be on the ticket (I'm convinced she'd be a good choice for next NFL commissioner, though).

2008:
Fred Thompson / Rudy Guiliani (R) defeats Hillary Clinton / John Edwards (D)

2012:

Barack Obama / Stephanie Herseth (D) defeats Fred Thompson / Rudy Guiliani (R)

2016:

Bobby Jindal /  Mike Rounds (R) defeats Barack Obama / Stephanie Herseth (D)

2020 / beyond: unknown. However, before 2032 a third party candidate will make it to the White House.

Steele?  As in the guy who tried to run for the Senate here in MD in 2006?

It's not impossible he'd have a future in the long run, especially if O'Malley screws up big. He's still young enough that he could win the Governorship in 2010 or 2014, then run for President or Vice-President in 2020.

That said, I don't see Jindal/Steele as a likely ticket for the Republicans, mainly because you won't see any non-white monoracial tickets anytime soon. I'm thinking Jindal/Rell would be a tough-to-beat ticket in, say, 2012 or 2016, mainly because it would be a fairly moderate and effective ticket with most demographic bases covered. They, especially Jindal, just need a touch more seasoning, and perhaps selling their souls off to special interests like they all do, first.
