Well it's beginning to heat up. If I was Erdogan I would support a moderate for the Presidential position in order to keep the lid on possible strife and from a possible coup attempt, or some sort of controlling measure, by the military. It's not like Erdogan is really all that Islamist anyway I've always considered him a Muslim George W. Bush, although he's been much more successful than that, in the way his faith seeps through into political life. While this is different than what Turkey is used to, and is really a reaction against the secularism of the Turkish state a sort of Turko-Islamic "religious right", he is not on a par with any of the Islamist movements further to the South. But he still runs the risk of having the Justice and Development Party go the same way as his former party, the Welfare Party.
