Here's the scenario:

Texas Governor, George W. Bush wins the Republican Nomination easily over Bob Dole, Steve Forbes, Pat Buchanan ect. For Vice President, Governor Bush selects fellow Governor, John Engler of Michigan. The Democrats nominate, President Clinton and Vice President Gore for a second term.

How would this election turn out? Would Governor Bush be able to win the White House in '96?

Discuss with Maps.

The election would basically play out the same way, but Bush might've won a couple states Dole didn't (like Kentucky).

Bush/Engler: 106
Clinton/Gore: 432
In 1996, George W. Bush as no appeal, and Clinton wins in a massive landslide, losing only the deepest part of the South, and the ultra-conservative parts of the west.
