France 24 Turnout Forecast: 85.5% (+13.2% on 2002). First exit poll at 2000 CET. Members might like to know that I am recording this (as well as the output from TV5 Monde later on) and will transfer it to DVD in order to take screen grabs of the graphics used. Do I have any requests in the mean time for specfic graphics?

Le Pen seems to be doing even worse than the polls suggested. I had thought he'd do better, but he's far behind Bayrou at close to 10%.

I'm not sure who the very high turnout is benefiting the most. Maybe its independent voters who like non-partisan Bayrou.

The LIVE coverage on France 24 is excellent since they have coverage in English also. I hope that TV 5 has English coverage, too.

Nope, TV5 Monde will broadcast in French only. If you have Freeview by the way check out BBC Parliament from 6.55pm BST as they will be simulcasting France 2

It's a great big slap to Le Pen and the smaller candidates.

France 24 is saying that Le Pen didn't even go into his party yet. He's so disappointed that he's just sitting out in his car.

Nah, just acknowledged that Sarkozy won this round. The second sentence was rather sarcastic Wink

He'll rise a little still.

Yeah well, congrats to Sarkozy for winning over a sizeable chunk of Lepenites. Unfortunately, he'll now go on to win the runoff as well.

I wouldn't be so sure. Royal is scaring me. A lot of Le Pen voters may cast blank ballots and the Bayrou crowd seems to really dislike Sarko.

Yay for Le Pen's collapse.

France are idiots if they elect Sarkozy. How often do you get the opportunity to elect a hot President? And then if you get that and pass it up, dumb.
