My friends, I hope that you all are having a lovely weekend.  I know that I, myself, have used the weekend to ponder my future.  On Thursday and Friday, I consulted with two doctors to obtain second and third opinions regarding my condition.  The second doctor agreed with my doctor's prognosis of six more months of life at the most, and that radiosurgery would not be a safe option.  The third doctor not only believed that radiosurgery would be out of the question, but found some additional malfunctions within my body which, he believes, may shorten my life span even further.

Next week, I will be returning to Iowa, my home.  I will live out my life to the fullest, mainting relative normality, and spending extra time with my family.  I cannot begin to thank you all for your enormous outpouring of sympathy and prayer.  Though I expected a very warm and kind response to my predicament, I was even astounded at the warmth and kindness you have shown me.  God bless you all.

Yates, seriously though. I wouldnt quit if I were you, Id seriously look around and check your options with the Cancer treatments centers of America or Moffitt or any other nationally known cancer hospital. Dont give up or resign yourself to death, its the worst thing you could do for yourself.

Keep fighting the wretched disease as best you can. I agree with Jeff, you should check out as many options as you possibly can because any chance, however slight, is better than no chance at all

I really don't know what to say. This is very sad. I hope it can somehow go better for you, and I hope from all my heart that you'll find a way out or atleast enjoy life. It's so sad to think of all this when searching through your posts and all the great contributions you've made, including your electoral series which I read over from time to time.

I hope that you can prove the doctors wrong. I wouldn't give up if I were you though. Go see other doctors and ask them if there is anything they can do to stop your condition. I wish you the best of luck.

I donated $1 to cancer research today. Nomally, I wouldn't have done it, being the cheapskate I am, but I thought about what you were going through, so I gave the person the dollar. I really hope your condition improves.
