Both dumb movies.

I voted Visalia.  Both seem equally dystopian to me, but at least Visalia is booming, while Xenia is on the decline.

What? Both were absolutely brilliant. Very shocking and often difficult to watch, but that's the whole point.

So you'll go with the place where people film themselves committing suicide at public skating rinks, kids kill their grandparents for cheating at Scrabble (and get an erection while doing it), and religious fundamentalist fathers force their daughters to re-enact his wedding ceremony with him?

I found them shallow and detached.  Shocking and controversial without being engaging or analytical.  If you're going to market on controversy, I'm going to hold you up to higher standards.  I pretty much agreed with the critics in those two cases.  I found both to be like crappy adolescent plays, except better-executed.

So you'll go with the place where people film themselves committing suicide at public skating rinks, kids kill their grandparents for cheating at Scrabble (and get an erection while doing it), and religious fundamentalist fathers force their daughters to re-enact his wedding ceremony with him?

Come on.  Census figures show that Hispanics are quickly overtaking sexual Scrabble fetishist murderers in Visalia.

Oh, Census figures also show that it was a movie, you moronTongue

If I were ever to move to California I would want there to be a beach so I'll stick with the old O-H-I-O.  Plus Xenia is only about an hour away from where I really live.

Visalia.  My brother lives there and my dad lives not too far away, and you're very close to Sequoia National Park and not far from San Francisco and L.A. and other fun places to visit.

And no, I don't use the events of one movie to judge a city.

By that logic, how dare you live in Minnesota, where car dealers pay con men to have their wife kidnapped in order to secure a large ransom from her rich father.  Sicko.

Oh of course. I was just kidding around with that comment.

If only Xenia was really like Gummo. I'd visit for sure.

I haven't seen Ken Park, but I doubt that Xenia's poorer districts (no doubt most of the town) are that different from what is depicted in Gummo.  After all that film shows nothing particularly improbable.

Visalia, CA is also one of the top-ten most polluted cities in the United States.

Yes, and according to my graciously enlightened Republican father, it's caused by cows farting.  Not the lack of wind, being in a valley with thousands and thousands of cars belching out fumes, or all of the chemicals that farmers spray on their crops every other week.

My brother saw the mountains for the first time (which are theoretically visible from Visalia) for the first time about 4 months after he moved there when it rained for the first time and a storm front blew through.

The Central Valley of California is basically the fruit basket of the country as well as the sewer for San Francisco and Los Angeles.

It's not released in the US. Getting an import or a bootleg (if your player can't play imports) is pretty easy though. You should check it out upon your return to The Bad Place. Isn't that happening this month?

Check out the opening scene (censored unfortunately): http://youtube.com/watch?v=LFvaB1HpiBc
