Yes, David Minge actually won two of the three counties in the district that later went on to vote for Kennedy in the Senate race (very narrowly, but won them nonetheless). Quite a shocker.

Very weird results actually. Minge actually won or very narrowly lost some uber-GOP counties, yet he lost because he got crushed so badly in Redwood (the third county in the district that voted for Kennedy for Senate). Kennedy's margin of victory there was almost 8x his margin of victory districtwide. I honestly have no clue why, it's a very very socially conservative county, but so are many of the ones that voted for Minge. Also lots of VERY close counties, Minge only won Sibley by 4 votes and Cottonwood by only 1.

He was a 4 term incumbent, so I doubt that was a problem.
