No, Austria. Why ? 6$ is even cheap. In Germany itīs 7$ and in the UK itīs 8$ or something like this. Wait for the UK members to tell you the figure ...Smiley

Prices in the UK in general are a joke.  I don't know how half of you Brits make it!  $8/gallon for gas, ridiculously overpriced real estate... it just doesn't seem worth it to pay so much just to live in such a beautiful climate Wink

Gas prices here were at $3.12 a few days ago, but have since climbed to $3.19.  I predict at least $3.50 shortly after Memorial Day.

We've just climbed from between $3.09 and $3.19 to $3.17 and $3.30.  I expect $3.50 by June 1.  Of course, I have heard that gas prices are supposed to peak in May and edge down ever so slightly in June and July.  I'll have to wait to see it before I believe it.

About $2.85/gallon. We're always well below the national average.

ug, its $3.49 right here, higher than the most of the rest of the state. I always am amazed though that it is so very high on the west coast... the east just gets it so much better.

Sad

LOL, and you american gas gripers are complaining about your 3$ prices ... just laughable Tongue

In fairness, TB, America is so arranged economically and architecturally that you have millions of people working for $8/hour driving an hour to work every day ...

...with their gas guzzling cars.

Nah, that's not really all that relevant.  Sure, some people drive SUVs or trucks, which is stupid, but most cars in the US are reasonably fuel efficient. My car back home was a 15 year old rather big car, and it got 28 miles to the gallon on the highway.  You can pick up these things for like $2,500:

The fact is it is far more economical to buy a used car for a couple thousand bucks that gets 28 MPG than a $25,000 new one that gets 45 mpg.  And besides, obviously the larger older car is more comfortable and safer at the same time.

That's silly.  How is a person who makes $8 an hour even supposed to afford buying the car in the first place?  These people are mostly riding round in cars they found in barns, stole, or borrowed from their grandparents.

The volatility in retail gasoline prices amazes me. There's a big truck stop in central IL that I drive by almost daily. On 5/11 it was at $3.04, on 5/14 it was at $3.24 and by 5/17 it was at $3.33. That's about a 10 percent jump in less than a week. On a 150 mile stretch of interstate yesterday the prices ranged from $3.23 to $3.59 for a gallon of unleaded regular.

I don't Know and as I don't have a car or a driver's license I don't really care - but I can assure you the price of petrol is much higher over here than in the United States.

And of course, again, it doesn't matter as much to you Euros is your countries are smaller and you drive a LOT less then we do. The sheer size of our states, let alone our nation is so large that driving is pretty much mandatory to survive/make a living the only way to really save on fuel by using public transport is to live in a major city. So really, when it comes down to it, I'd think comparing Europe to the USA in gas usage/driving needs is like comparing apples to oranges.

Here in central Florida fuel is running 3.09 - 3.12 a gallon and it was at 2.95ish last week.

It's about $3.25 for regular right now.  I heard that the price of oil jumped on Friday though, so I'm expecting it to go up.  I topped off my tank yesterday for that reason.

Unfortunately its about 70 miles round trip to work, but I get about 30 MPG so it's not that bad.

$3.35

A few days ago, I topped off my tank before going to work, and as an experiment topped it off again right after getting home. I got $1.80, and this is back when gas prices were $3.15. So under those old prices, it was costing me $9 a week just to go to work and back.

Also I topped it off before going to Minneapolis last night, and then did again this morning. It costs $16 to go to Minneapolis and back. Ouch.

Another good thing about you taking the night shift you can at least get good gas mileage, going 15 mph on the LIE at 8:30 Am or 6:00 PM wouldn't be good for gas mileage.

True, although efficiency tends to drop off over 60mph, and with the traffic so light I'm often tempted to start speeding heavily when I'm heading home at 1am and the traffic is light.  Often I find myself approaching 80 when I look down at the speedometer and I have to ease off the gas.  I'm in no mood to get a speeding ticket, especially since my record is clean.  I'm trying to do no more than low 70s, but you don't even notice when there's no one in front of you.  I've tried turning on the cruise, but the traffic is just heavy enough that it's not really feasible.

You sure 60mph?

I mean, if I do 70, my car only does about 2000 rpms in overdrive...which means i get about 28-32mph hwy...and its a v6
