No, Austria. Why ? 6$ is even cheap. In Germany it´s 7$ and in the UK it´s 8$ or something like this. Wait for the UK members to tell you the figure ...Smiley

Ouch. The US is headed down that route but due to instability in the ME plus there only being so much gas. Unfortunately we're more or less a petro state so we're screwed when it happens.

I just did some research. I found 2 good graphics from clever-tanken.de (which is a site providing the cheapest gas stations, something like gaspricewatch.com ...)

Here you go:

Diesel fuel is most expensive in the UK @ 7.2$ the gallon, cheapest in Estonia @ 4.3$ the gallon.

Regular Gas is most expensive in the Netherlands @ 7.8$ the gallon and cheapest in Estonia @ 4.7$ the gallon.

LOL, and you american gas gripers are complaining about your 3$ prices ... just laughable Tongue

I have a fuel efficient car in which I drive about 45 miles per gallon. Therefore the current 5$ diesel price is OK for me.

In fairness, TB, America is so arranged economically and architecturally that you have millions of people working for $8/hour driving an hour to work every day ...

...with their gas guzzling cars.

I know several people here too who are driving at least half an hour each day to work. If you drive 2500 miles a month to work (=100 miles each day) and have a fuel eficient car (=40 MPG) your monthly driving cost amounts to 190 $. When you earn 8$ an hour, you earn 1800$ a month. Therefore 190$ for driving to work is OK.

PS: I don´t know if there is a tax-deductable commuter system in the US like we have it in Austria. If your workplace is more than 13 miles away from your home, you can deduct 55$ per month, more than 25 miles 110$ and more than 38 miles you can deduct 165$ a month.

There has been a mineral oil tax increase on July 1 here in Austria. The price for regular gas is up 3 cents the liter, for diesel its up 5 cents the liter. New average prices are:

Regular gas: 6.5$ the gallon

Diesel: 5.5$ the gallon

But I have cheaper gas stations around, so I buy the Diesel for about 5.2$ the gallon right now.

6$ the gallon of Gas and 5$ the gallon of Diesel but I`m still fortunate to have one of the cheaper gas stations around. In other areas in Austria the price meanwhile is about 0.50 higher ...

Gas is at 6$ and Diesel (which I use) is at 5$ right now.

Gas prices here have soared dramatically in the last months. I remember when I was filling up my car in the beginning of the year when the liter of Diesel cost roughly 90 (€) Cent. Now the liter costs 1.1€, some increase of more than 20% in about 9 months ...

Or better said, in May the Gallon of Diesel here cost 5$ and now it´s up to 6$. Regular gas is approaching the 7$ area ... Sad

Was at $2.85 on post and $2.89 in hell Lawton.

I took a peek at my past posts on this and the decline continues.

Paid $2.62 yesterday. It still cost me $44 to tank up the truck.

It costs me 80$ now to fill up my car. But I still drive about 600 miles with the 13 gallons ... Wink

Gas meanwhile is up to 7.5$ the gallon.

In the Netherlands, gas is approaching 9$ the gallon ...

I payed 1.3€ for the liter yesterday, which is 7.9$ the gallon.

I usually pay about 85$ now to fill up my car in which I can drive about 600 miles then.

When I was in Austria in '06 it was 98 cents/liter for diesel and €1,16 for regular unleaded.  So even with these "painful" prices, it is still cheaper here...

Now it's 1.15€/liter (Diesel) and 1.20€/liter (Regular Gas).
