Yeah, I haven't been able to figure that race out. Also what I don't understand is how a guy even I had never heard of until the election got well over 3% statewide and 4% outstate.

It's possible that Ritchie didn't bother to campaign outstate at all, while Kiffmeyer did, or it might have something to do with media markets, since Kiffmeyer got a (well deserved) very bad rap in the metro. I also wonder if people bought Kiffmeyer's whole "I modernized voting in rural areas" nonsense.

The gap there is close to the Bush/Kerry numbers though.

Metropolitan is usually Hennepin, Ramsey, Anoka, Washington, Dakota, Scott, Carver, Wright and Sherburne Counties.

Metropolitan is usually Hennepin, Ramsey, Anoka, Washington, Dakota, Scott, Carver, Wright and Sherburne Counties.

His last name is "Kennedy", so it's possible some old people got confused.  Or something.
