Unrelated question:

Anyone know where I can keep track of Act 1?

I don't have the results from Cambria County, but, IIRC, only 4 districts approved it, Allegheny Valley (Allegheny Co.), Lewisburg (or one district in Union Co.) Bedford (Bedford), Bristol (Bucks), I believe by one vote.  It was a tie in a fifth.

Not a good day for Rendell.

Bristol is as democratic as you can get in Bucks County.

And in most of the strongly Democratic areas, it lost badly.  It was not on the ballot in Phila, Pittsburgh, and Scranton.

Act 1 is the prop which wanted to raise income taxes while lowering property taxes right? or was that something else.

I wonder how the proposition did in say, inner suburbs relative to more expensive outer ones

(Say Bensalem Twp, Bristol Twp, Middletown Twp, Falls Twp etc vs. Doylestown twp, buckingham twp, newtown twp etc)

Hmm...the act was fairly close in New Hope Solesbury and Central Bucks...two very well off districts...Council Rock (apparently the richest district in the state, if rumors are right) and neshaminy were roughly 2 to 1 against (roughly).

Interesting.

Well, yes, but it was a tad more complicated, unfortunately. They wanted to make tiny flat tax bumps to give aid to those with less than $30,000 in income. 1) It isnt a fix for everyone 2)Most of the peeople who will see money wont see much, and the middle class will see an increase! Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.

My general problem is that this could have been done through legislation.  The ability to levy property taxes can be capped.  The ability to levy a higher income tax can be created.

The town where I live, Mt. Lebanon, is a fairly rich, inner suburb of Pittsburgh (although we used to be where the elite of Pittsburgh lived and some people try to hold on to that):
