Remove Sec. 3 and replace with:

3. When changing a vote, it can only be for a technicality.  No person can change the order of the candidates or anything substantive.
4. The voter has until the end of the election to change this vote to avoid a technicality.

Define 'technicality'.
Add a Sec. 5 defining technicality as a spelling error and/or accidently posting ballot before completion

Spelling errors don't need to be corrected, as the voter intent should be perfectly clear.

And if you accidentally post a ballot before completion, would you not edit it so as to 'change the order of the candidates or anything substantive', in breach of section 3?

I think it is different because it is expressly stated that that could happen and would be allowed.  Add another section saying it will be up to the Dept. of Forum affairs to have descretion on whether the ballot was edited to change the outcome or correct an error and that the decision may be appealed to the courts.

How could it ever be proved that a voter 'accidentally' or intentionally posted a ballot, if they asserted otherwise. Wouldn't it be simpler to simply allow edits at the absolute discretion of the voter or not allow them at all?

I support allowing edited votes for whatever reason until voting finishes.  I see no reason to restrict this to 'technicalities' because as Sen. Jas noted, voter intent is already clear and no edit would be necessary.  Such a restriction is also totally unenforceable because someone could edit their vote when the SoFA was not online and he or she would have no way of knowing if it was done to rectify a 'technicality.'

As for shortening the amount of time it takes for one to become an eligible voter, the current limit is fine.  We have that limit for a reason.

Nay on the Amendment.

DWTL,
As previously stated this Amendment is for two things which most feel would be better as separate issues. The current amendment on the floor is to strip the part relating to lowering the registration time and only include provisions relating to vote editing. If you feel that lowering registration time is more important, than offer an amendment to remove the vote editing from the original.

We are voting on final passage.

Fairness to the Voter Amendment

2. Ballot editing shall not be allowed beyond the official ending time set for the election or referendum.

With one Senator inactive, this amendment has enough votes to pass.  Senators have 24 hours to change their votes.

With 7 ayes, this constitutional amendment has passed.  The governors should open a vote in each of the regions.

I apologise for missing the vote, allow me to express thoughts on it anyway.

While I would have voted no, due to the sure rise in electioneering, I realize we are playing a game, and post vote deals would be musch more interesting than w/o them.... this is also very likely to add plenty of material for the courts to work on.....

Um, what exactly is to stop somebody from editing all the votes in their favor?

1. In all votes presided over by the Department of Forum Affairs, citizens shall be allowed to edit their ballots within 20 minutes of posting their original ballot.

This is very loose language.  Our moderators MasterJedi and Gustaf could easily take it upon themselves as citizens to edit the citizens (their) votes to whatever they want as long as they manage to do it within 20 minutes of each individual ballot.  I trust they won't, but it's possible.

Wouldn't it note that the vote was edited by the moderator and not the original poster?
