Let me state right away that I know that this will get the Bush haters all excited to take another swing at the guy even though that clearly isn't my intention for posting this. I just find it a bit strange...

I was looking through the Yahoo News photos from the G8 summit and noticed the President drinking in a few photos. The caption says that he is "enjoying a cool drink" which looks a lot like an alcoholic beverage of some sort. This wouldn't be weird to me except Bush constantly talks about how he gave up alcohol.

Anyone else think that this is probably some type of alcohol?

Could be ginger ale... I can't think of any other nonalcoholic beverage that has that color, though.

Could be NA beer, too.  Apple Juice looks alot like that, including the slight froth.

Possibly near beer (i.e. non-alcoholic) or iced-tea, tho it's rather pale for the latter.  Given that it is Germany, probably the near beer.

My guess would be an iced tea, unless Bush is really done with being a dry drunk.

With his approval ratings, I'd be drinking too.

(It was coming down the pike.  I'll bite the bullet.)

Need a better view ?

German media says it is a Pils (beer), but not whether it´s alcoholic or non-alcoholic ...

We can solve the case now:

I did some research and on the Austrian Newspaper "networld" it is reported that Bush ordered a non-alcoholic Buckler beer.

LOL, this is incredibly well fitting:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buckler_%28beer%29

Never seen this beer, and it doesn't state that it's available in Germany, nor are there many German language hits. Why doesn't Heiligendamm stock local produce? Huh

But its available in the US. And if Bush drinks it back home, he can certainly drink it in Germany too. The import costs of a few bottles of beer don´t matter. The whole summit costs 100 Mio. € Wink

Yeah, that might be it. Or maybe it was imported for Sarkozy, and Bush wanted to try it as well. Smiley

Uh...
Even without the bottle, this could not be anything but a very inexpertly poured beer. And frankly, the first picture is fairly obviously beer as well.

Then that's some crappy pale ale.  I've seen urine darker than that.

Not all pale beers are crappy, you know. Although this would most certainly seem to be.

I REFUSE!   hahaha . . . however, I did see the link.  I missed it the first go around.  Guess I got stuck on the first picture.  Tongue  Never heard of/remember that brand, but it's been over 14 years since I was last in Europe, so it's not surprising.

You are in good company. Allthough I tried Heineken (crappy kind of beer, horrible taste) I prefer the so called "Dunkles Weizen".

You can barely make it out, but it says Buckler I do believe.

Buckler is a brand of non-alcoholic beer.

I've had it before.  It tastes like beer if beer was fermented inside a cat bladder and then had a glass of water poured into it.

Why would any sane person drink beer that doesn't get you drunk?  It tastes like sh**t to begin with; at least get something out of it.
