I apologize gravely to all other players for the delay. I should have been quicker to send in my orders.
Next time around I should act with the conciseness of a German in regards to scheduling. At this moment I've only got the frankness nailed down.

Good evening all,

I am sorry for the delay and for the announcement, but I am putting the game on hiatus. After the back and forth I had with Tim I have come to the conclusion that this is not the game for him and I am going to substitute him. I believe there was someone on the list for such a contingency and I will contact him to see if he is interested. When I have that substitute or someone else, I will restart the Build Phase and there will be a day for negotiations and a re-thinking of your builds because of that.

I am sorry Tim, I am sorry the rest of you, but this game runs on deadlines and a commitment to them. It is not fair to myself or anyone else in the game for this to happen. I will not go into any detail of my conversation with Tim without his permission, I consider that a private discussion.

This is not the outcome that was desired but regardless of my personal feelings about this either way I wish my successor as France the best of luck. They will have a wide amount of latitude to take things their own way. and they'll have a solid position to work with.
I express my hope that any delays that occur be as minor in duration as is feasible given the messy situation I helped create through my insufficient clarity.

EDIT: And for god sake please respect the deadlines. I didn't fully realize how strict they were in practice. Had I known I would have been the first person to send them in as I repeatedly pondered doing over the first few hours of this turn.

Tim, it was nice playing with you for the time it lasted.  Sometimes a new game or hobby just doesn't turn out to be one's cup of tea.
