Travis. I would vote for Travis in any case. I love Austin.

Alameda. It's where I'm from. And for least favorite, Placer. I swear to god, I hate the people there.

DuPage, I guess. Sangamon county (Springfield) isn't too bad, but I'd hate to live there.

St. Louis City is not a county or in any county - it is a strange sort of independent municipality.  SO that's my favorite county-like area.

But as for real counties - Boone:

I'm tempted to say Stearns because that's where I went to school... but St. Cloud is a crap city.

I'd say it's really a tie between Stearns and Hubbard.

Clay voted for Obama, so I'll go with Stearns. While I understand why Snowguy doesn't like St. Cloud, it's still better than anywhere else in Minnesota in a McCain county. At least it's large enough to have basic amenities, urban enough to have fun stuff and has a university.

Spokane. I really wish Obama had won it though.

Obama won Wahkiakum.

Yeah, Spokane is really one of the only sane choices in Washington. And I would really rather not live in Spokane. Or anywhere in Eastern Washington for that matter. I suppose Chelan would have to be my second choice. And, as sad as it is, maybe Lewis, just because it's the only McCain county on the good side of the state. Walla Walla might be nice, I haven't been there since I was little though so I'm not sure.

For all-around quality, my vote's for Chelan, too.  Wenatchee isn't much to look at, but the rest of the county is quite nice.  Lake Chelan is beautiful, Leavenworth is hokey but pleasant, and Cashmere is a surprisingly charming little village.  Never been to Entiat or Lake Wenatchee.

To live in...probably Spokane.  It's most urban.  Of course, the part of the county I'd be living in would be decidedly un-Republican, but that's besides the point Cheesy

Edit: For 2004?  Hmm...Clark to live in; Island or Skamania on merit, followed maybe by Skagit.

Since I supported Barr, all counties are fair game. So I'll say the one I live in, San Francisco.

2004 - Riverside, I guess

2008 - Umm, Obama basically won every county that I care about. So I'll go for El Dorado cause I like the name. Smiley And Lake Tahoe!

Originally this thread (started in 2007) was for 2004, but I bumped it for 2008. It seems like the few bareable Bush counties in many states (esp. NC, CA, IL, VA) mostly went for Obama.

unfortunately, every county in mass voted for the wrong guy for president.

You have to go back to 1988 (ironically) to find a county voting Republican. I'd guess Barnstable, although I wouldn't really want to live there; I like it better than Worcs or Bristol.

Arlington, followed closely by Henrico, with Fairfax, Rockingham, and Alexandria rounding out the top 5.

Maybe he meant the cemetery or something. Tongue  Hey, I almost did the same thing, but decided to read the actual text of the question at the last moment.  Smiley
