A short testimonial from a young intersex woman AFAB but chromosomally XY. Tried to embed, but I guess the YouTube embed feature doesn't work for YouTube Shorts.

Personally, this seems like a case where she should be allowed to play on whichever team she prefers. Just think this might be an interesting edge case for people who want to go strictly on "biology" whether they want to go by chromosome, assignment at birth, or self-identity, which are all three different in this case.

She should be allowed to play on the girls' team, but not required to do so.  I can't think of a reason to gatekeep boys' sports.

Thank you for sharing. This is a great example of why I am extremely skeptical of the impulse to Rush To Legislate on a range of trans issues from either side of the debate.

High School sports should be organized like this:
1.the best team(it needs a better name)-anyone can be on this team if they are the best in their school at the thing, this is the team that people go see play, "wins the championship", gets banners put up and the athletes get to put cool pins are their lettermanperson jackets
2.the XX team (it needs a better name too)-this is for people who were born XX and only those people.  They get to win championships and put banners up and wear pins too, and people can care if they want, but sadly, most people don't.
3.some third team (needs better name)-still organized with refs and wins/losses, but everybody makes the team, if there are too many players that kids don't get a chance to play, your school gets a another "third" team, they can be rivals.  No championships, no pins or banners, but the kids get to play the sport they want to play, do it for their school in a competitive and organized fashion.

everybody wins!

There's no reason I see here for her to not be on the girl's team. Sex chromosomes are involved in the development of a person's sex but that isn't the same as saying they are completely equivalent. I don't think anyone in history would have considered her a boy or young man aside from a few modern people focused on genetics or transgender stuff.

But #whatabout XX males who have always appeared to be male, recognized as male, identify as male, and have masculine characteristics? Genetics just isn't always as neat and cut-and-dry as we were taught in high school...

like all XX in my system, they can play on whatever team they want to.  They do not have the same issues as XY people who transition as far as testosterone levels go.  cite
Quote
At puberty, most affected individuals require treatment with the male sex hormone testosterone to induce development of male secondary sex characteristics such as facial hair and deepening of the voice (masculinization). Hormone treatment can also help prevent breast enlargement (gynecomastia). Adults with this disorder are usually shorter than average for males and are unable to have children (infertile).
I also would assume if most of these young people are passing as dudes, they are not going to want to play on the XX chromosome team.  But if they want, they can.

any other problems with my system?
