This franchise and its spinoffs are widely seen as right-leaning. Describe a Democratic-leaning voter whose favorite current show is Yellowstone. At the same time, the same person listens to mainstream country music and is a big fan of Lainey Wilson.

Me? Thousands of other people? Jon Tester?

The creator of the show has strongly pushed back on the show following any political ideology. He says environmentalism and Native American rights are very important. He is against factory farms and big corporations buying up land in Montana, pricing out locals.

How would y'all feel about me creating a megathread for "describe a partisan who likes xyz cultural thing", so this board doesn't have so many of them?

I'm halfway through Season 3, and I don't find the show right-leaning at all. Hell, in one episode, the most innocent and moral character goes on a Howard Zinn rant.

Please! And let moderators from other boards know that it's there. The cancer has spread all over.

Any Democrat that finds the drama in the show entertaining is my first thought.

Yea this site is obsessed with the idea that you can figure out a person politics by what they watch. While it’s true to an extent most people just watch what they find entertaining.

For example I have watched the hell out of Law and Order SVU and Law and Order but I’m definitely way more left than people on the site would assume a person who watches that is. It’s just a good show.

I’m pretty sure that the vast majority of Americans, all over the political spectrum, are perfectly capable of separating their politics from their media consumption, and do so on a regular basis.

The only reason for anyone to think Yellowstone is a “right-leaning” show is if they think the cowboy aesthetic is inherently right-coded, which is a whole nother can of worms.

While I refuse to call myself a Democrat my politics definitely lean left and I find Yellowstone cliche filled, hokey, full of plot holes and a predictable soap opera. I am also in the middle of the 4th season. Sometimes you need entertainment where you don't need to think too hard.

The show does contain a wished for world view of conservatives, the guns keep getting bigger and the people from the coasts keep getting dumber and more evil, but I'm not sure the show isn't just making fun of it.
