Me not happy. If France wants a bunch of fighting hens and tree-hugger commies and Greens in the opposition, so be it. However, they still gave Sarkozy a majority. I would like to tell the people of Saone-et-Loire that re-elected the idiot Montebourg that they need help lol Smiley

My comments.

One Green defeated an incumbent in Loire-Atlantique.

Any one know in which circonscription in Haute-Saone would the town of Gray be?

It's where the family name originates, apparently

According to the Interior Ministry's website, Gray is in 1e Haute-Saône. They gave the UMP candidate 53.12% of the vote and the Socialist candidate 25.04%, with the Communist candidate in distant third at 5.56%.

Nevermind, at least, the 2nd circonscription has elected a Socialist. Yes, I think I'd be mainstream center-left were I French

I'm so happy!  UMP does worse than expected Smiley  Guess Sarkozy isn't a modern-day-superman, like some, coughHashemitecough, would like us to believe. Hopefully, this will keep Nicolas "Bush is Awesome!" Sarkozy on a shorter leash.

I'd like to remind you this is the first time since 1978 that a certain party wins two consecutive majorities. Oh, and he still has a majority, so he has the power he wishes.

And if you don't mind, I'd like you to respect my choices of politicians, as I'll respect yours.

Not as much power as was expected though, which is cause for celebration.

Fair enough. But your choice of politician is going to be in office for 5 years, so I reserve the right to criticize him (without mentioning any forumite supporters by name of course).

Yes, and now he can really continue his ouverture to centrists and leftists in the government, in fact one more socialists (or two) joined government Fillon II.

He's doing that so he'll have some socialist support once he starts all his reforms. There will be strikes and protests galore when he does that.

The socialists themselves will be to busy fighting each other to notice Sarkozy's reforms.

Seine-Saint-Denis 5th (Bobigny)

If that's Jean-Christophe La Garde's seat, then you might include it under PSLE as he just joined the PSLE... Stupid Bayrou Smiley

Would that be 1st circonscription (Laon)?

http://elections.france2.fr/legislatives/2007/resultats/departement.php?rg=22&dep=02

Well, from what I can gather it was the seat of Socialist Rene Dosiere; however, the first ballot result was:

Gaedic Blanchard-Douchain (UMP) 29.62%
Rene Dosiere (DVG) 25.06%
Fawaz Karimet (PS) 20.17%
...

Dosiere went on to defeat Blanchard-Douchain in the 2nd ballot 56.28% to 43.72%

Perhaps Dosiere was deselected by the PS in favor of Karimet or something and, subsequently, stood as a ''left-Independent''?
