In the hopes of ending this conflicted election as quickly as possible, I hereby concede the Northeast Senate election (I think under the newest law this has some significance).

Anyway, I believe I ran a great campaign and I'd still like some Senator to pick up my ideas and introduce them into the Senate.

Activity was high on the part of the voters in this election, and I'd like to congratulate the Northeast on this matter.

Obviously it is my opinion that the Northeast made the wrong choice in choosing Keystone Phil, but nonetheless I am happy to see that once again democracy has succeeded.

I will continue to be active in Atlasia through other means, and I will continue to issue policy statements in the hopes some Senator introducing these ideas as bills.

Once again, thanks to all my supporters.

REMATCH!!!REMATCH!!!REMATCH!!!

On a serious note, good job with the campaign. I personally think you would have a good shot at the open District 1 seat, but do what you feel like. The National Weekly Atlasian could use some more people.

I'd like to apologize for not voting for you in the first place. At least it would have been two ties.

No, has you voted for him initially, he would have won.

No, because Defarge's vote didn't count.

Oh, so the entire run-off wasn't supposed to happen?

However, without the runoff, Defarge's inactivity woudl likely have never been noticed.

I would request the Senate to amend the statute of limitations so that, once a runoff election begins, the results of the original election cannot be challenged. (Perhaps challenges to the validity of the whole election should be permitted, but individual votes should at the very least be permitted to stand.) The gap is usually slightly less than one week--plenty of time. We would prevent a repetition of this somewhat farcical sequence of events.

I have altered my Consolidated Electoral System Reform Act (Amendment) Bill with the addition of a sec7ond clause to address this issue. It should be dealt with by the Senate before the next full set of Senate elections.

You ran a good race, too bad people voted for someone who didn't even feel like campaigning.

I must concur you ran a good race and campaigned more, however, Phil showed he did a great job as VP and represented the region better.  Had it been the Pacific, you would have cruised the victory.

Losing in this way must be awful; good luck in future elections.

You only had made five posts in the eight weeks before the initial election, which under current regulations made you legally inactive (they state that you need to make fifteen posts in that time period in order to be able to vote).

I just read the rules: 15 posts "prior to the commencement of the election."

My sincere apologies to Keystone Phil.  Had I know this to be the case I would not have voted in the first election, sparing the run-off.  Either way, due to True Dem's noble actions, the true winner will serve anyways.

Good job True Dem.

I thought Sam checked posters' activity levels sometime during the presidentials? I sure as hell relied on his lists of still-available voters.

You did well though TD, I know how tough it is to lose a race for office.

Remember, there is always next time.

***Breaking News***Evidence has emerged today that all is not well at Like-a-fishhook News & Media. Editor-in-chief Lewis Trondheim has expressed serious concern at an apparant failing by chief political correspondent Sam Spade regarding research matters in the covering of the recent elections. Media market watchers await with interest to see what (if any) fallout results.

As I posted on the other thread:

Somehow, I missed what Ernest points out - probably b/c of the flurry of posting by Defarge on the 22nd that I somehow didn't realize was not valid towards his vote.

Anyway, I apologize for the mistake.

You ran a good race True Democrat. A campaign with actual campaigning! There is always the next election to come and always a re-match with Senator-Elect Keystone Phil in 4 months.
