A high flyer - a middle ranking minister even though he has only been an MP since a by-election in 2004. Quite a rare beast in that he's one of very few Labour MPs with a business background.

Last time I saw him he looked like a surgeon. Was the glasses that did it.

Quite a rare beast in that he's one of very few Labour MPs with a business background.

The odd thing about that is that the same was true of his predecessor.
