Basically, Democrats still favored, although voters aren't particularly impressed with their leadership

I think it has to do with their leadership on gas prices rather than their congressional vote to give more money to Bush on Iraq. The WH is mostly blamed by the war in Iraq.

As far as I am aware, a lot of disapproval at the Democratic leadership in Congress comes from liberal Democrats who are annoyed that they haven't been able to stop the Iraq War yet.  It was similar to when the GOP was in power and evangelicals and conservatives believed that they were irresponsible and not going far enough.

Unfortunately, by rule one of these parties has to win in 2008.

The Congress doesn't have large enough majorities to get much accomplished with Bush in the WH.

The veto isn't the obstacle right now.  These guys can't even get something to Bush's desk.  Nice job spending six months farting around in conference committee over the minimum wage, by the way.

They can't do that because the Republicans in the Senate are filibustering anything that comes out of the House.
