What is the moral nature of humans, in your opinion

I'd say humans are generally good natured and happiest when we can be altruistic and just, but we're really stupid and easily driven to bad things by fear, trauma, pain, etc.

ETA: also really good at rationalizing and not thinking about things when the implications of a scary truth are really bad for our lives and happiness.
