Barbara Mikulski (who was tremendously effective) and Mac Mathias. The latter is the kind of Republican (presently extinct) this nation so desperately needs. People like Clifford Case, Amo Houghton, Bill Scranton, or Jacob Javits.

It’s disastrous that such centrists haven’t emerged to reclaim a formerly great party from theocratic Xtian Nationalists, Jingoistic bigots, White Supremacists, and Fascists. Time was, Republicans were the FIRST people to sound the alarm over the vile and un-American philosophies & rhetoric of Fr. Coughlin, Charles Lindbergh, Harold Smith, and Tailgunner Joe.
