When will Pelosi get the hint? Why is Reagan's NSA director taking more leadership than the Democrats here?

Because Reagan's NSA director does not have to deal with the Republicans and the general public.

Even if the Democrats hypothetically had the votes to do it, what incentive would they have?

Gounds for impeachment?  "0"

Chances of impeachment coming to Congress?  "0"

Chances of impeachment succeeding if it came to Congress?  "0"

But, if the Democrats managed, somehow, to impeach Bush and then Cheney, we end up with, guess who, President Pelosi.

Nobody said the senate had to convict them.

You have to have some ground for impeachment.  You can't build a case simply around "disliking" him.

Bush is a man who believes he is doing God's work, and that the future will regard him as a hero for things that we, as a nation (and the world) who hates him, simply don't understand at the current time.  The amount of damage such a person can do is mindboggling.  In other words, who will he hurry up and bomb before his term is up?  We are talking about a man who feels that he is part of God's mission toward a chosen nation.

No, he probably won't be impeached, and that is a scarry thing.

And he even compares himself to Truman and Lincoln. He's truly delusional.

You can't impeach the man just because you dislike him!  Objectively speaking, he hasn't done anything wrong or unlawful in the last seven years.  Completely spotless.

HMMM. Your right and that's the best reason I've heard for not impeaching.

Yeah, really. What's up with those stupid liberal Communist-sympathisers who want to impeach Bush? Of course there's no reason for impeachment because there hasn't been anything remotely wrong with his presidency. Obviously there was a perfectly sound reason for impeaching Clinton since he did a very, very bad thing. But Bush has always been an outstandingly upright, God-fearing Southern gentleman. Who but a godless liberal socialist would want him out of office? Clearly we need more presidents like him.

He shouldn't be impeached, and even if it was seriously brought up there wouldn't be enough votes. I'd like to see the backlash though, since the Democrats were elected to fix what the public didn't like about the Republicans (which means actually doing something).

45-46 for Bush.
54-40 for Cheney.

Just goes to show how little the general public knows about government and the process of impeachment.

They probably have done a lot of things illegally but they are good at destroying the evidence and hiding it all.

Hmmm.  Democrats impeach and remove from office both the Republican president and his Republican vice president thus elevating the Democratic Speaker to the presidency.   I'm afraid that would look a little too much like an out and out coup.

BTW, throw into that poll question that Nancy Pelosi would then be President.  Not many would go for that although it might be popular with the loons in San Francisco.

Frankly, I wish the Democratic Congress would take a run at it.  It wouldn't look good and it would make the Republicans actually look good in comparison.

Anyway, it's academic - strictly a Daily Kos wet dream.

You are seriously out of touch. I don't think many Republicans really grasp how hated Bush is right now; despising Bush is the mainstream position. Moderate America would gratefully take Pelosi over Bush... not sure about the folks in your neck of the woods.

btw, complaining about "the loons in San Francisco" is so 2004.

Even ignoring the posted poll, why would there be such a backlash? The Republicans held Congress for 8 more years after impeaching Clinton.

Moderate America would take Pelosi over Bush?  I'm afraid it's you who is out of touch.  I'm sure you and your friends would but that's hardly "moderate America is it?  Despite how unpopular Bush is (I'm no fan BTW) the idea of Pelosi as commander in chief is something that would scare the hell out of a majority of Americans.

As far as the good people of San Francisco, are you telling me that population is suddenly considered "mainstream" by most Americans?  Riiiiiight.

Pelosi's approval and favorability ratings are higher than Bush's.

What has Speaker Pelosi done that has been out of the American mainstream?
