I am still failing to see how I am not a Libertarian considering I have only about 3 disagreements with them, certainly less than you do with the Republicans

Iraq, Gay Marriage, and the fact that the Patriot Act should exist in some form.  Other than that, I differ in nothing important from libertarian.

So... an interventionist foreign policy, and government intrusion into civil rights and civil liberties?

Incidentally, I'm a vegetarian, except that I eat chicken, pork and beef.

I agree with the Republican party on most issues, but I don't support the War in Iraq, I support Gay Marriage, I most certainly don't agree with modern republican views of Abortion, I'm not totally on board with the Patriot Act, and a few other things.

So.. that is what my differences are from the Republican party, quite minor I'd suppose.  Does that make me a Rino?

You are not providing a broad enough picture for me to evaluate that, for example where do you stand on:

guns, health care, censorship, flag burning, hate speech, prostitution, Israel, health care, tax cuts, progressive tax, etc., etc.

Actually, having done a careful study of Modu's posts, he's pro-Bush rather than pro-Republican.

How does being left of the Democrats make you an IINO?

I don't know where SPC got that from; it really shouldn't be difficult to figure out that jfern is a Democrat, not an Independent.

Maybe I am wrong, but I would imagine that Independent In Name Only implies that someone has blatant similarities to a mainstream political party despite self-identifying as an Independent. A person who repeatedly claims to be an Independent and yet behaves almost exactly like a standard member of a specific party could be considered an IINO. Merely displaying an Independent avatar does not automatically render someone an Independent, and neither would any other avatar. I would think that SPC of all people ought to be aware of this, considering that he mentioned that he is "technically a Republican" but uses a Libertarian avatar.

I should probably mention that I sometimes find -INO threads annoying since they can easily degenerate into pointless witchhunts. I don't spend a lot of time worrying about who claims to be associated with what party provided that people aren't obscenely antagonistic toward members of their own supposed parties (come on, if your only apparent purpose for staying in some political party revolves around incessantly fighting with fellow members, then you have serious issues) and graciously abstain from making unsubstantiated attempts to decide for me what party I belong in.

Finally, I strongly recommend taking avatars with a grain of salt. Your political beliefs will ultimately speak for themselves, not a little GIF that sits contentedly below your forum username regardless of who you actually are. Smiley

lol, only because I called you a RINO.

But that aside:

I oppose the Patriot Act
I oppose state intervention in marraige
I oppose religion
I oppose the current Iraq War
I oppose censorship
I oppose the war on drugs and want marijuana legalized
I oppose strip club regulations
I oppose movie/music/video game/other media source rating systems
I oppose regulations and taxes on alcohol
I oppose arbitrary wiretaps and warrentless searches
I oppose laws regulating the buying/selling/making pornography
I oppose George Bush

I pretty much tow the ideological line when it comes to social liberty, I just usually don't put much emphasis on those issues.

lol, why John Dibble fits this thread, although labels like LINO are dumb because there aren't enough people in the Libertarian movement to qualify as having a 'in name only' attachment.

As for dwdl, he quite reminds me of Guy Fawkes.  An anarchist who wanted to destroy the government and replace it with himself as the head of a theocracy.
