She was a disappointing candidate anyway.

Whatever, I doubt she'd be able to beat Roskam a second time around.

She got 49% against probably the most popular republican in the district. Roskam's dirty tricks didnt help either.

She'd might of been able to. Depends on how unpopular Iraq is in Nov. 08. I guess it doesnt matter anyhow.

As I posted on another thread:

What the heck are Democrats going to pick up in Michigan?  And two seats out of Illinois?

IL-06 and IL-10. MI-07 and MI-09. I'm not saying the Democrats will win those, but they certainly stand a chance.

IL-06 was as close as it was in 2006 for three reasons: open seat, compelling D candidate, big D year. The first factor is gone. The second only exists if Duckworth runs again. The third only exists if Obama is on the national ticket.
With Duckworth out as of today, the second factor is gone as well.

I basically concur with that analysis. Although if Obama wins the nomination, I wonder if IL-06 (and DuPage County) will vote Democrat. Kerry did better than Gore did in 2000 despite the national popular vote going in favor of the Republicans.

Lord, maybe this means NPR will finally shut the hell up about her.

I honestly think that Tammy Duckworth is happier in her present role as head of the Ill dept of Veterans Affairs than she ever was or would be as a congressional candidate.  Good for her.

Fat chance.

Maybe Max Cleland can move!
