Bush maybe needing a new Vice President Soon as there is a rumor floating around that Vice President Dick Cheney is on the DC Madam's List of Clients.

I was thinking about a scenario like this:

Cheney resigns.
Bush appoints Rumsfeld VP during a recess.
Bush resigns.
Rumsfeld appoints Bush VP during a recess.
Rumsfeld resigns.
Bush appoints Cheney VP during a recess.

The status quo is continued, and all within the confines of the law.

A bit conspiracy-ish.

A possible disclaimer I saw on another website was that Cheney as Halliburton CEO, or his employees using his phone, could have gotten the escorts to entice potential customers.

Even if he did do it, he'll shrug it off and use the Sith Choke Hold on whoever brings it up to him. Wink

Besides, I'd rather not think about Dick Cheney banging a chick at the Naval Observatory.

What prostitute in her right mind would allow Dick Cheney to hire her? This is extremely disturbing... and yet not particularly surprising.

Wouldn't work, since as Cheney himself has pointed out, the Vice Presidency isn't part of the executive or judicial branches and thus does not fall within the scope of the recess appointment power of the President.

For those not interested in scoring cheap political points, the Vice Presidency does not fall within the scope of Article II Section 2 because his appointment is provided for in another section of the Constitution.

[quote author=Article II Section 2 Clause 2]He shall have Power, by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, to make Treaties, provided two thirds of the Senators present concur; and he shall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, Judges of the supreme Court, and all other Officers of the United States, whose Appointments are not herein otherwise provided for, and which shall be established by Law: but the Congress may by Law vest the Appointment of such inferior Officers, as they think proper, in the President alone, in the Courts of Law, or in the Heads of Departments.

What would be the point in that? If you're going to go from Bush/Cheney to Bush/Cheney why even bother having him resign?

More sleaze journalism from more sleaze journalists.

This is the same type of journalism that informed the world that aliens backed Bill Clinton's run for the Presidency, and showed a picture of aliens walking with Clinton.

It is about as credible.

A more credible source, such as Weekly World News, would be nice.

Actually it wouldn't work.  As Bush has already served more than 2 1/2 terms as President he is ineligible for another term even if it is completing someone else's.

How can anyone imagine that a guy like Dick Cheney would not visit prostitutes?

Perhaps you young innocents do not realize that this is standard practice for wealthy older men.

Clearly violates Section 2 of the 25th Amendment.

Despite my dislike for many of the Vice President's opinions on the issues of the day, I would be honestly surprised to find out his name was on the D.C. Madame's hit list of political assassination.

Truely funny if true. It would be nice to see a better source than this, but it isn't like ABC hasn't had the full DC madam's list for 2 months and didn't already publicly state that their was nobody of interest on the list and that no Congressmen were on the list - we can can see how their level of credibility worked out for David Vitter. It makes me wonder who has better investigative journalists, ABC who had months to get to the bottom of this, or Hustler that nailed Vitter in a few hours with the same info ABC had been sitting on. If Cheney is on the list - using a hooker (cheating on his wife, breaking the 10 commandments) is a fairly small ethical lapse when compared to many other things he has done. But something tells me that even if he were on the list at one time, his phone number has been removed from the disks that were shipped out to the media.

I tried some of the numbers yesterday from the list. The majority are unlisted numbers, per anywho.com where you can type in phone numbers and see who they belong to.

As much as I hate Cheney, assuming he didn't let his duties (which as VP, are small) go undone, even if this is true, he shouldn't have to resign.
