According to a new Public Policy Polling survey, a hypothetical U.S. Senate race between Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) and state legislator Grier Martin (D) could be very close, with Dole holding a slight 43% to 37% lead.

Dole also led state senator Kay Hagan (D), 43% to 27%, and tops Elaine Marshall (D), 46% to 35%.

The key to Dole's vulnerability is a 46% approval rating among the state's voters, with 40% disapproving of her job performance.

According to the PPP survey, President Bush's job approval in North Carolina is 35%-61%.  43% of voters described themselves as Democrats, 40% said they were Republicans.

I really hope that the DSCC targets this race. This is like Missouri or Virginia was in 2006.

Dole is very beatable with the right candidate.
