I don't know why this is big news. It's been shown in the past, with politicians of all sides, that the public don't really care who has or who hasn't smoked cannabis.

Why she felt she had to say is anyones guess, though she was probably tipped off about a rag due to publish a story because of proposed changes in the drug laws and rightly pre-empted that.

I couldn't care one bit generally about which politicans have and have not been so involved ... however I would think it hypocritical for those who have to, say, raise cannabis's criminal status - without strong actual evidence that the substance has in fact greatly increased in its health risks in the intervening period.

Actually, I think it's fairly hypocritical to go after cannabis generally declaring it to be a dangerous drug, while at the same time liberalising drink licensing hours.
