I'm not sure who potential nominees for the Libertarian Party nomination are.

Can you enlighten me?

I can't imagine the race for this nomination would be very hotly contested.

Barr isn't running, though he would be a good nominee.

I think the nominee will be either Kubby, Phillies, or Paul if he's drafted.

^^^
I support Phillies, but the longer he hangs onto the "don't support Paul" idea, the more it will hurt him. It can be construed as a way of keeping the ideology out of the mainstream.

Out of the ones I know, I think George Phillies would win. Hopefully that really bad comedian running for the Libertarian Nomination, Doug Stanhope of Arizona dosen't win.

He dropped out because the FEC wouldn't let him continue his comedy career if he ran.

Mitty's actually got a good idea here.

At this point, if the libertarian party candidate isn't Satan, I'll be happy.  After the embarrassment of nominating that blow hard Badnarik, the libertarians need someone good.  My expectations are way down though, so I don't expect it to happen.

I agree, and wish Barr would run. Barr/Paul or Paul/Barr would probably be the best ticket the LP could get.

Clearly, it's Paul's if he wants it, and I really really hope he allows himself to be drafted. If not him though, I think Steve Kubby will recieve the nomination. Because he has just recently endorsed Paul’s campaign for president.

http://www.kubby2008.com/node/54

There's the link, if anyone cares. It's Important to note, however, that Kubby’s only endorsing Paul for the REPUBLICAN nomination. So, he’s not dropping out completely. As such, should Paul lose the GOP nomination and unfortunately decline to run as a Libertarian, those that support him in the party will likely switch their support over to Kubby, since he endorsed him prier, rather then support someone like George Phillies, who I don’t believe has endorsed Paul. This is a bit of a shame, since Phillies has a good plan to build the party IMHO, but regardless, this endorsement is a great move on Kubby’s part.

I'm sure Governor Thompson would be crushed by the way you talk about his brother...

And his brother did get crushed in 2002. Tongue If his last name wasn't Thompson and the race wasn't as attack filled the Libertarian candidate would have gotten what they normally do, next to nothing.

Maybe McCallum should have provided a stronger case for re-election. Also, Thompson did win a couple counties, so it's not like his candidacy was a total joke.

And let me guess: he'll win by a landslide in the general election?

Pretty much my take. The Libertarian Party seems to go out of it's way to alienate more and more people each election. Which is too bad, because a strong small-government third party presence could really shake things up. Especially if a Democrat like Hillary gets elected.

I'm waiting to see more into on the declared runners before making any decision.  I'd love to see Dr. Paul 'drafted' for the LP nom if he drops out of the Republican running.

I care about as much as finding out which saddo the Official Monster Raving Loony Party runs in any given by-election over here.

Except that the OMRLP is at least a demi-semi-serious party. Obviously.
