A man convicted of child molestation in Florida was arrested this week by Border Patrol agents on the Tohono O'odham Reservation.

Agents apprehended a 24-year-old Mexican man about 6 p.m. Tuesday southwest of Sells as he tried to cross into the country illegally, said Richard DeWitt, spokesman for the agency's Tucson Sector.

A records check revealed Thursday that the man had been convicted in April 2006 of lewd and lascivious behavior with someone less than 12 years old in Highlands County, Fla., DeWitt said.

He had been previously deported this year out of El Paso, he said. The man will be processed for removal and charged criminally with re-entry of an aggravated felon, he said.
Border Patrol officials estimate that about 10 percent of the people they catch have criminal records. Recent data seem to bear that out.

From Oct. 1 through June 15, 31,152 — or 11 percent — of the 288,018 apprehensions made in the Tucson Sector were illegal entrants with criminal records, said DeWitt, citing the latest figures available.

I believe the point of his post is that the particular piece of garbage should never have gotten into the country in the first place.  That is a huge problem that merits discussion - something Carl has been doing in depth and on a regular basis.  It's also the type of incident and situation that the open borders crowd would like never to come up or be mentioned.  Some of us - a majority according to polls and not just "pompous Texans" would like something done about the border.  I'm relatively sure the parents of that 12 year old would.

On January 28, 2006 in the General Politics/U.S. General Discussion board in the "Cashman and Co friends of criminals" thread I commented on the judge who went easy on a child molester, with no mention of illegal aliens.

On April 3, 2005, in the Forum Community/Forum Community board on the "Re: most disturbing thing youve read on the message board?" thread I also commented on a poster who advocated child molesting, and never mentioned illegal aliens.

On November 23, 2004 on the Presidential Elections-Analysis and Discussion/2004 U.S. Presidential Election Results board in the "Re: Dan Rather is retiring" thread, I also commented on child molesting without mentioning illegal aliens.

I could cite additional posts, but feel that one for each year I have been priviledged to be a member of this forum (including one from seven weeks ago) should provide sufficent evidence for those concerned with facts (especially as Eraserhead cited no facts to support his contention).

First, you said "post," and I cited some posts.

Second, you really should read things before your post.  I started the "Cashman and Co. friends of criminals" thread on the General Politics/U.S. General Discussion Board that I cited in the post to which you replied (inaccurately).

First, I do try to avoid "randomly" posting anything.

Second, its interesting to see you add "a story" to your criteria.  Hmm.  You post a lot of stories (like your allegation on this thread that I had not posted anything about child molesters who were not illegal aliens) while I tend to post excerpts from articles (the identification of the source typically leads the article).

Third, yes, it is appropriate to post excerpts from articles to illustrate where a prior poster had provided inaccurate or misleading (incomplete) information.  This is not random.  It is appropriate!

Finally, I notice you keep ignoring the thread I started, which I have twice previously cited (General Politics/U.S. General Discussion/Cashman and Co. friends of criminals), which disproves your allegation.

Second, yes, I do deny that most of the threads I have started on the Atlas Forum recently (I found the use of "nowadays" rather quaint) "are about illegal immigrants or illegal immigration."  Do you really want me to start citing those threads?

Third, I notice also that you use the term "immigrants."  In my posts on illegal aliens I have tried to educate others on correct nomenclature.  Perhaps more information is needed?  Well, at least you aren't currently using the absurd term "undocumented."

Erasherhead's general point stands in my view, even if he was incorrect in certain details. Like him, I knew with a good deal of certainty that the child molester in question would be an illegal - you don't typically start threads about crimes commited by people who were born here. Unless it's a famous case or something, we don't typically see you posting about criminals who aren't illegals. Searching 'child molester' on Google News gets me lots of hits, and many of the suspects aren't illegals, but I don't see you posting about it.
