It'll be a Democratic landslide that becomes obvious early in the night unless the Democrats nominate Clinton or the Republicans nominate Giuliani.
neither of those things will affect the Democratic victory.  In fact they could potentially make it bigger.
Harry, you think Dennis Kucinich would be "competitive" in 2008.
If he gets the nomination somehow, then something weird has happened, and yes, he would be competitive under the new weird conditions.  It's not like I think he presently has a shot at being the next president.

All that would need to be said is:

"In 2004, Dennis Kucinich ran for President...in an automobile fueled by broccoli."

The Republican would win that easy. He is a total joke. For god's sake he said the first things he'd do as President would be getting rid of the Patriot Act and creating a Department of Peace!

So?  Most people support alternative energy, and unlike most Democratic candidates who took a private jet to the Youtube debate, Kucinich actually practices what he preaches.

I support both of those things, and most Democrats do as well.

Sounds very Orwellian.

Anyway as a foreigner I will foolishly predict either a Democratic blowout similiar to 1980 or 1920 (in which case a sudden decleration of victory) or a very narrow Republican victory ala 2004 in which case we might be in lawyer terriority again.

You realise that if the GOP pulls this of, this will be the first time in American History that a president elected and then get relected and then replaced by from the same party by one that was not part of the original president's administration?

1928? Nope Silent Cal wasn't reelected before Hoover won.

1876? Sure, but Hayes lost the popular vote by 2 and a half points and there was a recount in South Carolina. That would be the second time in eight years that a democratic majority was denied the White House and if turns out like Florida again, you know there will be a government shutdown for a few months and if the dems capitulate, they will probably lose support despite that being "the intellegent thing to do".

It appeared that my sobering message, a bizarre mix of history, hackery and realization has killed the thread.

You are so isolated, Mike.

That would actually sound pretty cool.

Probably once Ohio or Florida is called in favour of the Democratic ticket of Barack Obama/Bill Richardson or Hillary Clinton/Tom Vilsack.
