The candidates, with my picks

(note: my picks come mostly from looking at financial info and other bits of info I know)

Governor, Democratic: Eaves with around 70%
Governor, Republican: Barbour with around 90%
Lt. Governor, Republican: Charlie Ross
Secretary of State, Democratic: Windsor and Smith in a runoff
Secretary of State, Republican: Hosemann and Rupp in a runoff
State Auditor, Democratic: Jacob Ray
State Auditor, Republican: Stacey Pickering
Insurance Commissioner, Democratic: Gary Anderson narrowly
Insurance Commissioner, Republican: Mike Chaney
Ag Commissioner, Republican: Lester Spell

So, any other predictions (this means you, Harry)

Here's a list of candidates with how much they spent and how much they have.

I think that Dale beats Chaney, and Chaney beats Anderson.

But, if Spell is that vulnerable, he could lose to Cole.

I thought that Toins would have a shot, but the reports i've noticed listing him as not filing reports makes me think that he's not going to get a lot of votes.

As for Ross/Bryant matchup. I'm motivated to take Ross since he's in the state senate and probably has a regional base.

I read that Bryant got the endorsement by Jim Gilchrist, and Ross was endorsed by the NRA and RTL

Who are the candidates running for Governor on the Dem side except the Jesus-fan Eaves?

He sucks, they both suck.

Sadly, Eaves should win the primary.

Everything that is wrong with Eaves is also wrong or in many cases worse with Barbour.
At least Eaves supports universal health care, free college, increased education spending, and a grocery tax cut.

So how much do you want taxes to be raised?

I would accept a tax rate if it meant lowering college tuition, improving roads/highways, funding education, or funding Medicaid/Medicare (Barbour tried to cancel those programs until a judge ruled that he was required to.)

If the US as a whole does not adopt a socialized health care system, I would theoretically like to see the state of Mississippi operate one, but I fear we do not have enough competent people to run it.

The point, however, is all moot, because Eaves has no plans to raise any taxes other than those on cigarettes, which can be $100 per pack for all I care.

Then don't expect any of those things unless you want massive debt for the state.

Secular schools are by far, far more important to me.

Why do you have a grocery tax anyway?  Even in NJ we don't pay taxes for groceries

Erik Fleming is about to lose his state house seat to Kimberly Campbell. Any idea what happened there?

When the last precinct reported in HD95, Upshaw/Johnson went from a 10 vote margin, to a 649 vote margin

Either someone messed up reporting.. or Linda Johnson isn't well liked somewhere
