Though I have very little knowledge of politics pre-Great Depression, I do love butterflies, so I'm reading this.

I've been reading through this, and I'm already in the '40's! What'll happen when I hit 1957 and there's nothing left to read? SadHuh

OK, how should we punish Lief if he fail to update this anytime soon?

I just sent Lief a PM asking him to update or instead to cede authority over the timeline to the What-If community, making it a collaborative timeline. I propose we give Lief two weeks (until September 18) to reply, and, if there is no reply, continue the timeline ourselves on the 19th.

He's probably been sent about a million pms by now since he started slowing down during the tl, at least two from me. I haven't gotten a response, and I assume several others haven't either. Given that, I'm just gonna guess that in two weeks' time, this'll be nationalized.

Should this go into place, would it be better to appoint one "official" writer who can sum up all the ideas and weed out some of the horribly whacky? Or would that be too much centralization of power? Also, should it be done in this thread, or should this thread just link to another thread that continues from 1957-on. As a last note, we'd probably need access to lief's maps in order to properly write this.

Just finished reading this! Such a disappointment to see it stop. I wanted to see what happened with George Wallace, Pat Buchanan, & Dick Nixon! If only if only...

Praise be! Thank you God!

Really glad to see you considering updating, and hoping that you do update. Smiley

As for your point about Richard Nixon, I agree that it's unlikely for the exact same person to exist with such a POD. However, it is, IMO, better to use real people than just start making people up. For one, there are no photos of these fictional people, two, it takes away from the background of knowledge that readers already have of the person, and three, it takes away from the "coolness" aspect of having _________ be Prime Minister.

By the way, what are the Kennedys doing? It's hard to imagine Northern Catholics choosing between the Southern Protestant Party, the Northern Protestant Party, and the Western Protestant Party.

I'm currently re-reading this, and I saw something posted by TrueFederalist a while back mentioning the idea of an Adams dynasty, which in my opinion would have been awesome. Sadly, neither Adams nor Jefferson never made it to the Prime Ministership or whatever you call it in this timeline. Since working on a paper with the 1796 election and being in the middle of a biography on Adams, I've grown fond of involving the man in tls like this, so it's sad. Nevertheless, a very great tl as you already know. Whatever happened to the Adams'? Did the family in politics end after John Quincy, or did a couple of the later members go into the Senate? Also, how are ttl's early Prime Ministers and Founding Fathers regarded? Is Hamilton seen as a nation hero? Sort of a Jefferson maybe when you factor in his personal life? I'd like to get ordinary Americans', or at least ordinary political junkies' perspectives on the figures of America's formative years.

This isn't gonna be easy, already, there's no specified date for Hamilton leaving office and Madison entering. Would it be possible, dear Lief, to explain what date a PM is typically elected and whatnot?
