Assuming the campaign field remains the same but these the following additions, how different would the polls be?

Democrats
Mark Warner
John Kerry
Evan Bayh

Republicans
Dick Cheney
Rick Santorum
George Allen

Democrats
Mark Warner - second tier
John Kerry - top tier, though polling badly
Evan Bayh - second tier

Republicans
Dick Cheney - top tier, but polling badly
Rick Santorum - second tier
George Allen - top tier, but polling badly

In this hypothetical, did they start running six months ago along with everyone else, or are they just jumping in the race right now?

I took it as they joined at the same time as everyone else.

Bayh would be fighting with Dodd and Biden for the Senator going nowhere vote. He'd have no chance.
It's questionable whether both Kerry and Edwards would be running. Kerry would probably be trailing the top 3 candidates, but his supporters would point out that he wasn't doing so well in early January 2004.
Warner would be doing about as well as Richardson.

As for my opinion of the 3, I don't like Bayh. Warner's lack of experience with foreign policy really shows. Kerry is a bad candidate who would make a good Ptesident.

As dissatisfying as the current candidates are, luckily, none of these people are running.

There's no way Allen would've been in the top tier, unless we are assuming that he wins reelection by a large margin in 2006 in this scenario. If he had run for President after losing, he'd definitely be second tier, possibly even third tier.

I think Warner would've been a strong candidate for the nomination.

Kerry wouldn't be going much of anywhere, I don't see the Democrats being willing to support him again after his loss last time.

Democrats
Mark Warner - Would likely be battling with John Edwards for the position of #3 candidate.  In my book he'd be the odds on favorite in any "stop Hillary" campaign.

John Kerry - Assuming he'd still have the staff, national connections, money, and experience from being through this once before he'd be jockeying with Hillary and Barack for the top spot.  Additionally Edwards would be pushed aside to being a lower tiered candidate perhaps allowing Dodd, Biden, or Richardson to be more prominent.

Evan Bayh - No strong impact.  He'd be at Dodd/Richardson/Biden level.

Republicans
Dick Cheney - Republican frontrunner.  Seriously.  In post-1900 American politics there have only been 2 sitting VP's who pursued their party's nomination and didn't get it.  It would be interesting though in that the running Republicans (aside from Ron Paul) would have to change their messages.  I also think Fred Thompson wouldn't run if Cheney was in the race.

Rick Santorum - He would have all the support of Sam Brownback plus some.  He'd represent all the core values of the current GOP, but would suffer from the stigma of having recently lost a Senate election.  In a lot of ways he's the Republican version of Al Gore.

George Allen - Third tier candidate not making a significant impact.

Kerry wouldn't be getting anywhere; none of his staff would come back to support him. Why would they waste their time supporting a candidate guaranteed to lose in the general election?

No way.  If by some very weird circumstance Kerry was the 2008 Democratic nominee, he would win.
