Foreign nations try hacking the Pentagon's systems all the time, and sometimes they are successful.  Fortunately, all they can reach is the unclassified side, and even then, they probably won't be able to read it.  Unless a system is completely removed from the WWW, it is accessible by outside parties.

They have hacked into our economy, why not the pentegon.  Half the money floating around there is borrowed from them anyway.

As MODU said, all of the sensitive stuff at the Pentagon isn't even connected to the internet, so no worries there.  Still kind of embarrassing, though.

They're less prone to foreign policy dickery than the US government. Also at least they're open about being a despotic system unlike the US's obscenely gerrymandered 2 party de facto dictatorship(with occasional power swapping in between PC multiculturalists and christian fundies). Beijing I'd say is more trustworthy than DC is right now.
