In pursuance of the OSPR (cited below), persons seeking the position of President Pro Tempore of the 21st Senate should announce their candidacies within this thread. Nominations will close 72 hours after the opening of this thread.
OSPR, Article 8, Section 1, Clause 2
:
Following the swearing in of the new Senate at the beginning of each Session, the President of the Senate shall open a thread in the Fantasy Government board for Senators to announce their candidacy for the position of PPT. This thread shall be further known in this document as the PPT Candidacy Declaration Thread and shall be open for seventy-two (72) hours for Senators to declare their candidacy for the position.

Yes, I do wish to run for PPT again. I do hope my record at running the Senate's business in a fair, non-partisan manner is noted.

As stated during the campaign, I think Sam has done a fine job as PPT, and have no qualms about supporting him in his bid for another term.

FTR, and unless someone advises me differently, my interpretation of the OSPR (cited above) is such that Senators must step forward and nominate themselves for the position.

That would be my interpretation, Jas, as well, though I won't deny that a case couldn't be made for the opposite interpretation.

I would interpret that, for the nomination to be valid, the person being nominated would need to accept it.
Which, to me, would be the same as announcing their own candidacies.

After some quick research, I'll take that response to be a polite decline to stand. (But do correct me if I'm wrong.)

With only one declared candidate, Sam Spade is therefore deemed elected to the position of PPT for the 21st Senate.
Well done Sam and best of luck for the new term.
