There comes a time when one can't sit on the fence for too long, in case one gets a sore arse Cheesy so I shall be making my endorsement for the 2008 Presidential Election by the end of September - but who do you think it shall it be?

Although I can't vote, the future of the America and its wider international standing matters to me immensely Smiley

Clinton. I wouldn't completely rule out Richardson or Edwards though. I'd say Obama is out of the question.

No respect to Dodd or Biden, but they don't seem to be getting much traction. I don't see that changing given they are lagging in the money stakes. Things may change but I'm doubtful

I'd go with Obama, or Edwards/Hillary to a lesser extent,  if your criterion is largely restoring America's moral ascendancy. Obama's profile (half-black, born in Hawaii, lived in Indonesia), and his rhetoric (hope, humility, and peace) would help improve America's image abroad. Edwards and Hillary would provide a change of parties, something would send a sign to the rest of the world that the USA is repudiating the Bush Doctrine and President's party.

You could always just wait until around January, and then the decision will be made for you far more definitively than it ever could by a handful of Atlas forumites.

I'll be making my own decision Joe. Perhaps, I never worded it so crystally, but this is more to see who Forumites think I will endorse Wink

I've been on the fence for too long as it is Sad, effectively, since Warner and Bayh ruled themselves out of a presidential run, which is why I've set myself an end of September deadline. I'll be looking at the positions of the top, Democrats [ Smiley ] and Republicans [ Shocked ] before making my call

There really are no good fits for you out there.  The blue dog movement is foornail dead in the Democratic Party and you're not going to endorse a Republican.  I suspect you'll endorse Clinton.  Unless you're on LSD at the time you make your announcment.  If you're on LSD, you might endorse Obama.  If you're not on LSD, you'll vote Clinton.

You misunderstood me.  If you wait until January/early February, the nominees will pretty much be picked already, and then you have a choice of just two candidates (for which we all know the choice will be the Democrat).

There's not even a need to 'endorse' a candidate at all.  I don't believe I've ever done so in my entire life.

Now, I get your drift

I have a saying:

"If you sit on the fence, you get a sore backside, but that's preferable to being mauled by attack dogs".

I would like for it to be Ron Paul; however, I realize that is not probably going to happen.

I'm thinking he is too pro war for Edwards otherwise I could see him going for him.
