Do we have any indications from someone about how much progress has been made with the initial $50 million in funding? Because that would be somewhat relevant. (Unless we're all just being ideologues here.)

As we don't have any evidence whether our initial investment has provided benefits or not, I will have to abstain on this amendment.

After some consideration, I change my vote to Aye.

I will motion for cloture after Sen. Ebowed's frivolous amendment. It is clear that there is no longer serious debate occurring here.

It is clear that there is no longer serious debate occurring here.

It's not a serious bill, so why do we need serious debate?

Adult stem cell research is backed and funded by all sorts of pro-life groups.  There are no ethical restrictions on the research, either.

The government has absolutely no need to be funding it.

I did not say whether I was for or against the final passage of this bill. Delaying final consideration is only clogging up the Senate's ability to work through a long backlog of legislation.
