I'm watching G4 w/ my roommates - wow - it's like a cult gathering in NYC.  They've shut down streets around Best Buy for this - biggest game release ever - it'll be interesting to see a count of people.

I don't know what ridiculously amazing things people see in the Halo series.  It's a fine series, but it's so terribly overrated (no game could receive what Halo 3 has and not be overrated) that it's not even funny.  Wake me when Mass Effect is released.

I didn't preorder a copy, so I am accepting that I won't be able to get one for a few weeks.

I agree.

That being said, I've purchased it already.

I wouldn't have time to play it until Christmas anyway, so I didn't bother.  The graphics look great though.

I'll just wait till it comes out on PC - most of the XBox games I want eventually do, so no reason for me to buy the system. I still need to get the first Halo though.

I don't get why people care about Halo. It's boring.

I enjoy it.  I find it even more enjoying when my nephew flys out to visit and we play the multi-player modes.  Of course, you need to play it on a big screen tv to truly get into it.

I've got a friend who's preordered it; sometime in the next few weeks four of us will devote a whole day or so and play through it.

I have an X-Box 360 and have no intention of buying it or even renting it. Perhaps I should give it a shot but it just looks like another dull First Person Shooter to me.

I'm just waiting for Grand Theft Auto IV at this point.

That's the issue.  Not everyone is into first-person shooter games.  In general, I'm not either.  Halo and Counter-strike are really the only two I get into.  I'm more of a SimCity/Civilization/Railroad Tycoon kinda guy.  I do, however, LOVE GTA (ever since the first pc version came out ages ago).  I didn't get the last one though.  I don't think I would find the inner-city environment that entertaining.  Can't wait for 4 to come out.

Bah. Halo. Has nothing on Half Life, and nothing on Time Splitters. Also, it isnt made by Nintendo. Rubbish. (Super Smash Brothers Brawl and Super Mario Galaxy countdowns are on!)

I haven't been the fanatical fan that most have been, my roomate went out and bought it last night and while the game is great, it is not the be all game that many make it out to be.

However the effects and look of the game is great, the best so far, and the gameplay looks to have improved further.

I assume you own NCAA 08?  If so, what do you think about the high school playoffs option to improve your recruiting status...i thought it to be neat.

The Xbox 360 plays madden 08 at twice the fps as the PS3 as well...but probably because EA was lazy this time around with the new PS

Considering I could play as my school, it was outstanding, not something I played more than one day, but a great idea and proves their not just turning out the same cake with different frosting every year.

Potential plaintiffs and defendants of the world...be afraid...very afraid.

^^^^^^^^

I can kinda understand skipping school for the latest installment of Zelda, Mario, Starcraft, or Half-life, but not for the most overrated franchise in history.

Half of my programming class in High School missed for Halo 2. Wasn't that bad at the uni, though.

I'm definitely missing for Guitar Hero 3, though. The hype for that is well-deserved.
