I think Hillary's secret plan to end the Iraq war involves starting a war with Iran.

This doesn't mean anything, Jfern. It's just meaningless legalese probably designed to coincide with Ahmadinejad's visit to New York. It doesn't even say anything about authorizing the deployment of U.S. military forces into Iran; just that we should do something about Iranian proxies operating in Iraq.

or maybe it was just a response to what's-his-name's NYC visit.

a little saber-rattling after the fact.  hmmm.  on second thought I think that explains it.  Wink

well, being out on the campaign trail kinda makes it hard to vote.

Doncha just love our 24-month campaign cycle?  Yet another thing about the USA to admire.

I really don't understand this.  There are heaps of leftists in the 'yea' column, including many who voted against the Iraq war.

Akaka (D-HI)
Durbin (D-IL)
Lautenberg (D-NJ)
Levin (D-MI)
Menendez (D-NJ)
Mikulski (D-MD)
Murray (D-WA)
Reed (D-RI)
Reid (D-NV)
Rockefeller (D-WV)
Schumer (D-NY)
Stabenow (D-MI)
Whitehouse (D-RI)

And why would Nebraska and Indiana, of all states, be split on this issue with their Republican Senator voting against this?

Maybe because they actually want to represent their constituents and stop with the time-wasting bullsh**t.

This is JFern you are talking about.  He isn't capable of thinking, but rather just follows what the numbnuts on DKos say.

Exactly. This is just a meaningless way of giving Ahmadinejad the middle finger.

Still happy Klobuchar voted nay though.

Although this really doesn't say much of anything, quite naturally I support it.

Especially since it shows off jfern's inability to read before getting so angry he can't think straight.

From a practical point of view:  Bombing Iran to stop them from getting nukes is going to happen sooner or later, whoever's in charge and whoever does it.  This country is simply not going to let another Pakistan/India thing occur again - and we shouldn't.

I sincerely doubt any invasion will occur, though - the troops aren't there w/o a draft, which no one will support, and invading Iran in traditional fashion is nearly impossible anyway.  Overall, I simply encourage certain people in this site to stop living in fantasy land.  That's all.

Sheesh, talk about living in fantasy land - what on earth does Iran have to do with India/Pakistan?  You're seriously suggesting we should have used military action to prevent those two nations from getting the bomb?  Pakistan, though problematic, is a close ally, and India is certainly at least as stable and responsible a nation as the the US.

Seriously, as much as I oppose any military action against Iran, it is much more of an 'enemy' than either of those two.
