What an idiot. If he had any shame, he'd resign and at least save his party and constituents the misery.

I love how whenever the news quits talking about the guy, he finds a way to grab the headlines AGAIN.

Uh, I'm not sure who exactly you think is getting the gift here.  Certainly not Idaho.

The Democratic Party. Opponents of anti-gay right-wingers. Freedom fighters everywhere.

Yeah, a guy who taught everyone in the country about how gay people f*** in public restrooms staying around is really going to help the cause of gay rights.  Right.

Also, Safe LaRocco.

Larry, sometimes life just isnt fair.  If by some bizarre circumstances you are actually innocent, tough.  The party is more important than your political survival.

It has nothing to do with gay rights - the reason we are pleased is that this, in various ways, makes the Republican Party look bad.  It makes them unhappy, so it makes us happy.  That simple.

Because simply soliciting sex isn't a crime. Had Craig done this at a gay bar, he wouldn't be in any trouble. However, having sex in public is, and Craig was clearly planning on doing that. He was between flights. Where else was he going to have it?

I agree that it seems very logical that a Democrat would win this seat but maybe a third party candidate can have a strong showing in the race.

Idaho Gov. Butch Otter (R) said his short list of names to replace Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) was down to "less than five, but that could mean one," the Idaho Statesman reports. Otter would not say who is on that list.

The only problem is that Craig has yet to resign. Otter "reiterated that he can’t appoint anyone until he gets a letter of resignation from Craig. He did say that whoever is on his short-list has assured Otter that he will keep Craig’s staff. Otter said that is important for continuity."

ABC News notes the senator is seeking a court ruling to "allow him to withdraw his August guilty plea for disorderly conduct after he was arrested in an airport men's room sex sting in June." He "now seems to be waiting for the judge to make a ruling before deciding whether follow through on his resignation."

It also makes gays in general look bad.  I understand Democrats being thrilled about a black eye on a Republican, but it comes at the cost of advancing an issue—gay rights—that Democrats are supposed to care about.

Fortunately for Democrats, they will lose neither sleep nor votes over it.

This seat is Republican, and will stay Republican. I mean, c'mon this is Idaho for crying out loud.

Personally my favorite thing about gays is the restroom/peepshow/park sex..  but I understand most americans, in their prudery, don't appreciate the convenience.
