The Birmingham News reports that Rep. Terry Everett (R-AL) "announced his retirement Wednesday, startling his congressional colleagues and igniting a political frenzy in southeastern Alabama among those who want to succeed him."

This seat is beyond safe for the GOP. The real race will be the primary.

I'm supposing the AL-2 district is like 95% Republican (with token opposition if not any). That would be a good place for a candidate from the Constitution Party to focus on a good campaign, I'm guessing.
