"The "peripheral South" is North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas, Oklahoma and, if you choose, Texas, Florida and Atlanta."

The only problem is most of those have a category that they fall into and btw I think you mean Georgia not Atlanta Smiley but hey if it says I could win Arkansas and all the above mentioned in throry I'm happy with it.

Oh and Supersoulty is right you should atleast try on the blue avatar for a day I think you'd enjoy it!

I did it again, trying desperately to moderate myself to the left, and only managed to switch places between some regions:

1. Peripheral South

2. Deep South

3. Texas

4. Desert Soutwest

5. South Atlantic

6. Border States: Virginia, Tennessee & Kentucky

7. Rocky Mountain/Alaska

8. Rust Belt

9. Upstate New York

10. Upper Mid-West

11. NYC/New England

12. Pacific Coast/Hawaii

See I told you you belong with us. Why don't you switch to blue for a day just to try it out?

Lol... Smiley

I like the colour blue... Wink

I quoted that post from somewhere, and it seemes to think that Atlanta was different from the rest of Georgia, just like RP pointed out.

Obviously #1, 2, 7, 8, 12 are self-explanatory, but can someone please explain what states correspond to the rest...

For example, next to #3, it says Copy & Paste Results Code:

My #3 result for the SelectSmart.com selector, U.S. Political Region Selector, is Upper Mid-west

Which part of that is intended to be copied???

I'm one progressive who (assuming I had major party backing) would probably win the entire Midwest but lose states like Maryland and Florida (due to their suburban base).

Sssuming that I would hold the Dem strongholds, using that listing, I think i'd win HI, WA, OR, CA, MN, IA, WI, MI, IL, OH, PN, DC, MD, DE, NJ, NY, CT, RI, MA, VT and ME. (Total 275 EV)

That's pretty damn good, but I doubt it would happen. Oh well. Smiley

Also, I think that Virginia is mid-atlantic, but I really can't see a Dem winning it Sad (Total 288 if it is included  )

WV could also go to me, if I campaigned fairly hard there.

I'd need a VP from PN/VI/WV/OH, i think.

I think i'd have a chance in MO, b/c I'm from IA, also.

In reality, i'd prolly win HI, WA, CA, IA, WI, IL, MI, DC, MD, NY, CT, RI, MA and VT Tongue (195 EV)

I would lose badly in the deep South and Texas because I would been seen as Ultra-Liberal (I see myself as Center-Left). The rest of the country would be turned off. That leaves me with the West coast, the Northeast, and of couse, Virginia, my homestate. I short, I lose, 369-169. Sad

How do you win Maine and Oregon, but not Illinois? Also, if you're painted as an Ultra-Liberal, you might not win VA, McGovern didn't in 1972...

Yes, the south rejects their own if they're seen as liberals.

'I'm gonna take th' briefcases of them pointy-headed bueracrats and sling 'em into the middle of th' Potomac!!!!!' (Cheers!!!)

I figure the GOP votes from South and Middle IL would overwelm any Dem votes from Chicago. As for Maine and Oregon, I would narrowly carry them. I feel since that VA is my home state, I would carry it by 50-51%, but no more than that.

On my best day, the only states I foresee myself winning are MA, RI, CT, VT, NY, and perhaps HI. How do you think I would do and which groups do you think I'd do best among?
