The better lines of response would be

a) "Waller is a Supreme Court justice, blah blah, may throw partiality into question if there's a dispute, blah blah, etc"

b) "Mississippi Republicans thought Mike Espy was a crook until he cozied up to them"

But seriously.. Eaves best hope is to get the support of the people like Waller and Dale.

And that doesn't appear to be happening.
