No offense, but Kossacks are pretty gullible, if not retarded. The reason why Dodd has surged, presumably, is because of his recent 'vocal' opposition to the latest FISA bill. Dodd isn't doing this because he gives a sh**t about the constitution; he's doing this because he's not breaking the MoE in Iowa and needs to somehow attract liberal primary voters. Somewhat similar to Vilsack's earlier call for congress to defund the Iraq War. Both are nothing more than publicity stunts.

Likewise, the reason why Hillary hasn't shown this 'leadership' is because she has no incentive to do so. She's crushing everyone everywhere, so why do something gutsy and risk being called out by the GOP as being 'weak on national security' or whatever their usual bullsh**t catch phrases are? Now, if she were trailing Obama in the early states and her campaign team said it was because she wasn't attracting enough base voters, then you'd have a similar release by the Clinton campaign.

If you want to see what type of views Dodd really has on this matter, note that he has voted in favor to reauthorize the Patriot Act. But bottom line, the platforms and rhetoric of most of the candidates running are motivated by political expediency, not by a genuine desire.

Dodd was also the first member of the Senate to come out against the Iraq war funding. As for the Patriot Act re-authorization, only 10 Senators voted no, and they weren't the 10 Senators you'd expect, since Boxer and the MA Senators voted aye, while Alito supporting Byrd voted nay.

His first vote against funding was in what, May 2007? Just another meaningless publicity stunt after all the damage had already been done. If he were so opposed to the Iraq War, maybe he would have, you know, voted against its authorization when it mattered? He has absolutely nothing to lose by voting against funding; the top tier candidates do. That's why they don't show 'leadership' while Dodd, Vilsack, and the other candidates with no shot at winning do.

How are the votes of other senators relevant? I'm not saying that voting for Patriot Act reauthorization is right or wrong (I don't know enough to have an informed opinion), but Dodd is making the case that in the national security vs. civil liberty debate, he sides with civil liberties. If that were true, his past voting record would exemplify that. It does not.

I'm not trying to disparage Dodd (I actually like him more than most of the Democrats running), but Kossacks really need to stop getting a hard-on every single time a candidate beefs up their left-wing rhetoric and need to start acknowledging these people for what they are: politicians looking for votes.

Until, of course, said candidate says or does one thing to offend them, at which point he/she is DEAD TO THEM FOREVER AND MUST BE PRIMARIED.

I dunno.  People are saying Dodd. People are also saying Huckabee.

Dodd v. Huckabee seems like 2004 redux. Basically Kerry and Bush are going at it again though this time, Bush will not be an incumbent.

lol what momentum? Internet polls are not a sign of momentum in actual polls. Ask your buddy Ron Paul about that.

there is a bit of a difference...

the democrat base is pretty similar to the dailykos crowd.

so if the dailykos nuts are taking notice of dodd, so are the lefties in nh.

If that's your prediction Walter, then I guess Chris Dodd can kiss his chances goodbye once and for all.

What's also amazing is that this poll is absolutely worthless. Why do you keep posting it? I doubt anywhere here gives a damn about this. DailyKos? More like DailyLol

Dodd, Biden, and Obama have all promised a fillibuster.

EDIT: Clinton has made it complete, all 4 Senate Democrats running for President support a fillibuster, unless she decides otherwise, her statement was kind of weak.
