I've settled on... Nay. The current minimum wages are sufficiently high and indexed to inflation.

Tally on Final Passage
Aye: 3 (Ebowed; Sensei; Earl)
Nay: 4 (Moderate; Brandon; Sam; Verily)
Abstain: 0
Yet to Vote: 3 (afleitch; Friz; SoS)

This legislation has enough votes to pass. Senators have 24 hours to change their votes.

The time for changing of votes having passed, the bill is presented to the President for his consideration.

After much thought:

Veto

I feel that the arguments put forward by those opposed are more convincing than those for this bill. The sudden rise in the minimum wages of overseas territories, many which do not have the same economic stability as Atlasia itself, would be detremental to the economies of those territories. I also believed that the minimum wage increase in the District of Columbia was unneeded as the minimum wage was just recently increased and set to be adjusted to inflation. I did not hear a convincing argument as to why the current minimum wage in DC was insufficient. Therefore I felt that I could not affix my signature to this bill.

A tough call to be sure, but ultimately the right one, Mr. President.

Thank you for the veto, Mr. President. This was a minimum wage increase, not for the benefit of the population, but for ideological reasons, that took no account of local issues in the territories nor of the fact that DC already possesses a high minimum wage indexed to inflation.

You make it sound as if I just signed a law supporting child molesters and slavery. Talk about overreacting.

But honestly, I dont know how you get called a progressive by anyone.

I don't know where you got the idea that he was ever a progressive in the first place.  He was always a libertarian, albeit a moderate one.

Not being incredibly involved in the 21st Session, I assumed that, by winning the progressive primary, he was likely a progressive. Obviously, I have been proven wrong.

At any rate, I admire Jas for his attempt to push through this piece of legislation.

But we must move on, and simply try harder next time for that veto proof majority.

You've been here long enough to become familiarized with who Colin Wixted really is, ideologically.

I support President Wixted's veto of this legislation.  I usually support raising the minimum wage, and indexing it to inflation, but I never understood why Porce felt the need to call for it to be raised yet again, despite the fact that it had already been raised and indexed to inflation in past legislation.
